Welcome to Day 10 of BLOGMAS!!!
It’s truly the most wonderful time of the year. One of the things I have actually really loved experiencing this last year is Christmas markets, and I hope I get to experience even more, maybe even every year. There is just something so beautiful about everyone who is festive being in the same place.
The Ferris wheels
I don’t know how to explain it, but being on a Ferris wheel at the Christmas market was such a highlight for me. Just being able to look down and see all the city lights in readiness for the holidays is so fun. I guess also adding the fact that I was experiencing this in a different country made it more special.
The food and drinks
Well, I realise I have mostly videos and not pictures of these, but another highlight for me at the markets is the food and drinks. There is always something for everyone. Sweet treats and also savoury dishes. I tried out some coated almonds and other nuts ( coated with different kinds of chocolates and treats) and loved them so much. I purchased them with the intention of carrying some with me back home, but none made it to my flight back, so you know how good they were! Since it’s usually cold in Europe around this time, a popular drink you will find is the mulled wine ( a warm, spiced alcoholic beverage traditionally made with red wine, mulling spices, and fruits, enjoyed primarily during the winter and holiday season. It goes by various names across Europe, such as Glühwein (Germany), vin chaud (France), and Glögg (Nordic countries), which I have also tried. They also have non-alcoholic versions of it.
Just the sights
Walking around the markets and streets and seeing the lights and everything for me has also been such a nice highlight. My version of wanting to be outside! Can’t wait to experience even more in 2026!
